[Core] Dolphin for MuOS V9 Take 3 by @Speedrun [+.[🐬].%]

Hi everyone, this is a project to port the Dolphin emulator, the core for emulating the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii.

Its author - dear @Speedrun [+.[:dolphin:].%] - has done his best and is leaving it to posterity.

You can download it here (Google Drive) and here (Mega)

Game compatability list is here

RG28XX is not supported

Huge thanks to @FireBattleInMtl for all changes after V8.

  • Changes in V5-V8:
    • V7 Fixed permissions thanks to @FireBattleInMtl
  • Updated dolphin binary
    • V8 Newly compiled binary file thanks to @Snow
  • Changes to gcpadnew.ini for systems without joysticks and with only one joystick:
    • V6 For no joysticks D-Pad defaults to the Main Stick.
    • V6 For no joysticks L2+D-Pad direction for D-pad.
    • V8 L2+A/B/X/Y for C-Stick.
  • Future proofing the installation process:
    • V5 The archive includes a script to add dolphin to muOS’ launch.sh thanks to @FireBattleInMtl
  • Device-specific downloads:
    • V8 Separate downloads are available for devices with (hasjoys), without (nojoys), and now introducing single joystick compatability! (hasjoy)
    • V9 consolidated it into a single version for all devices, but this will not account for a device which has 0 or 1 joysticks but connected to a controller which has 2 joysticks (it would be treated as what the device has built in).
  • Exiting the core:
    • To exit the core safely, use the Safe Reset Hotkey: press L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + hold the power button for 2 seconds.

I think it’s a really cool thing that it even exists. And I think people should know about it.
I’m not a developer and I don’t know how/won’t develop it. But you can if you wanna.

This looks neat but nothing runs well enough to bother installing it.

It was a technical experiment, intended to see if GC would even run on the h700 (unsurprisingly the answer varies from not at all to barely to surprisingly half playable).

This combo not work for me… but…
L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + SELECT or START : shutdown the console

That would be because these hotkeys changed in the core of muOS since this was made.

Safe Restart L2 + R2 + START
Safe Shutdown L2 + R2 + SELECT

Hello! Id like to sign up to be a Diver and report back on my findings, excited to get Dolphin running on my SP. Im not sure how to go about it or who to contact im new to the community in general. Thanks :}

Hello, same. I signed-up to help for game compatibility, if needed. I have a “40 V”.
For now, among the not tested, I tried Red Card (football game) which doesn’t launch and Rogue Ops which lags a bit, seems playable in theory (15fps average), but the lack of “C” button is a big down since it makes it barely playable (you can’t move camera)

Any luck with this on the goose preview? No dice when I try to install it.

Yeah i have the same issue. Maby the Location of the cores launchscripts was changed in muos goose. I’ll try if i can manually Install it differently.

this is what duncanyoyo said in the discord

well you’d need to update the assign files to match the new structure. it needs a global.ini and a core ini, as well as the ext-dolphin.sh updated to the new standard.

I used my device a lot to play pikmin and warioware and I would love to be able to play that on goose and i cant go back to pixie because the file associations are all changed.

Damn, is there any existing template of adding a core to goose we could use or something? I don’t even know how this thing is added to modify it.

ngl I just got a new sd card set and reinstalled pixie so I could play gamecube because that is like half of what I did on my device, goose was also giving me a few problems with some ports.
