SD2 contents erased

2601.1 RG35XXH Dual SD setup

Everything on my SD2 card was just completely erased and reset to the stock folders.

My SD was working just fine. I removed it from my handheld and plugged it into my computer to copy a DOS rom with the .dosz file extension. Once it was finished I safely ejected the SD card, put it back in my handheld, booted up to find that everything on my SD2 was gone. The default folders are there - archive, muos, roms, etc - but they’re empty.

I’m currently using Recuva to try and recover my save states. Can anyone explain why this happened? Did I do something wrong? I’ve been swapping back and forth between my device and the computer to copy files and have never had issues. It’s a Samsung SD card.

MustardOS does not mess with sd2 ever, unless you move stuff with the storage options to sd2, and even then, it just copies and creates new stuff, it never deletes anything, by design, to avoid issues like this one you’re facing.

Something probably have gone wrong when moving files around on your computer, or your sd card is going bad.

After you finish your recovering process, format the card with the sd card formatter tool and test it with h2testw to check it’s health, if the card is going bad, you will probably face similar issues shortly, so it would be better to replace it.

So weird. I’ve never had a storage device fail in this way.

Thanks for the information and links to these tools. I formatted and ran the test, which found no errors.

I suppose the lesson for me is to back up my saves before copying something new to the SD card.
