Sega Saturn games are flickering

Silly Goose, RG40XX H.

When launching any game with the YabaSanshiro Standalone emulator (with or without BIOS), the image constantly flickers. Interestingly, if you restart the game via the “Reset” option in the YabaSanshiro menu, the game will launch without flickering.

I tested the games Bulk Slash, Gōketsuji Ichizoku 3 - Groove on Fight, and Rabbit.

Can confirm the same on the RG40XXV.

You don’t have to restart the game though! Simply pulling up the yaba menu with select then immediately exiting the menu will stop the flicker.

It is rather annoying as it didn’t flicker on Pixie. I hope they fix it because Saturn actually runs halfway decent.

ext-yabasanshiro.sh at 32th line

SETUP_SDL_ENVIRONMENT skip_blitter

change to

SETUP_SDL_ENVIRONMENT

This change may eliminate the phenomenon.

Unfortunately,
ext-yabasanshiro.sh and the file containing SETUP_SDL_ENVIRONMENT did not exist
in my muOS Canada Goose.

For now, when playing Saturn games,
We need to operate a reset every time.:sob:

If you let me know your build ID and ext-yabasanshiro.sh, I can check.
However, if you’re using the older ext-yabasanshiro.sh, not the one I mentioned, the above issue won’t occur, and I don’t think there have been any reports of such issues.
The issue was first reported on Silly Goose, and coincidentally, my 40xxh is still a Canada Goose, so I checked and found that the flickering issue didn’t occur with the older version of ext-yabasanshiro.sh.

The version I’m using is as follows:

  • muOS Version : 2508.2 SILLY GOOSE (377d3471)

  • Device Type : RG35X-H

  • Core Name ; YabaSanshiro

  • Core Version : v2.6.8

ext-yabasanshiro.sh does not exist on my device.
In which directory should ext-yabasanshiro.sh be located?
Thanks for your support.

Saturn is extra
So connect to wifi and download from core downloader

I think you missunderstood, @8bitGuy already has saturn core downloaded and working.

I have the same issue. When launching a game the screen flickers. It can be solved by opening and closing the menu but in some games the flickering persists. For example, in Manx TT Superbikes the game itself is ok but the HUB still flickers: speedometer, position…

It happens with silly goose and also golden goose, so I decided to go back to pixie

(RG35XX Plus)

As @pmroyo say, the Saturn core was downloaded and the game is working.
However, even after applying the latest MustardOS 2508.3 Golden Goose, this flickering phenomenon occurs after launching the game.:sob:
Saturn games are playable enough, so I hope this issue will be resolved soon.

Now is fixed by @antiKk and @wakeboxer (thanks to @Bitter_Bizarro for telling too)
