Hello, I’m leafo, the founder of itchio. I picked up some Linux handhelds this summer and found muOS and started developing an official itchio app to access download and run things in your itchio library that are compatible with handhelds.

I’ve just released version 0.3.0 today, and I would say this is the first release I’m comfortable with sharing with people for public testing.

You can get the latest muxapp file here (along with the opensource code)

> Experimental new front-end for the itch app in Rust and egui - itchio/zitch

A few things to keep in mind:

- It only supports authenticated access, you need an itchio account. You can sign in via a QR code when first starting the app
- There is no way to browse all of itchio, you need to have collections or owned content on your account for it to show up in the app’s library. If you don’t have any collections yet, I recommend logging in on your phone, and filling up collections there. Then you can refresh your library to test them out on the app
- We are working on scanning all uploaded archives for the “Playable Here” filter, which will allow filtering your existing library to projects that are likely to be compatible with your device. This involves finding ROM files, compatible game engines, and ARM Linux binaries that are likely to work
- This version has a “compatibility report” system that allows you to rate if something runs on the app. This isn’t necessary for ROMs since, but for things like love2d games and raw Linux binaries
- The app manages all installed files in its own directory using the same architecture as our desktop app. This means installed content currently does not appear inside the Explore section of muOS.

Thanks for testing it out! Happy to receive any feedback.
