[2508.4] [rg28xx] Loose Goose stuck on MuOS logo after loading ROMs

Hello! I see there are a couple of threads about this already with notes that the issue is fixed. However, on my new rg28xx, I appear to be having the same issue with 2508.4. My issue might be different, since the 28xx doesn’t even have WiFi.

I am able to complete the initial setup, and I can shut down and reboot into MuOS. After removing the card and copying a few ROMs directories into the ROMs folder, then safely ejecting the SD card and replacing it into the 28xx, I am stuck at the logo.

I have tried:

  • Reflashing (4x)
  • Copying the rom folders one a time
  • Pressing the reset button

Is there further troubleshooting info I can provide?

what brand of sd card you use ?

The stock sd card, no name. I will try with a different one today.

Are you using a steam deck to add your roms?

This is caused by whatever device you’re using to add the roms auto-mounting the SD card and attempting to ‘repair’ the 1st partition which is used for boot only (it’s very sensitive and must not be modified/repaired)

Amazing. I wasn’t using a Steam Deck but I am using Bazzite on a GPD handheld. I will disable automount and give it a go.

I wrote a guide on how to disable this for the steam deck - since you’re running bazzite, you might find it applicable!

I can now confirm your guide works on Bazzite as well. Problem solved.
