Hi! I have a brand new RG40XXH from November 2025. The only system version that works is the latest 2508.4, older ones have black screen after boot (so that is the sign something has changed in the newest revision of the handheld).
The problem with the newest version of the MuOS is that after I put the console into the sleep mode, when it wakes up it shows strange vertical stripes that are slowly gaining brightness every second, no other output to the screen. It looks like the issue KnulliOS have right now:
For the latest revision of the RG40XX series, Anbernic apparently decided to go with different screens. Unfortunately, the screens of the new RG40XX H/V models are not compatible with KNULLI, yet. Any attempt to run an incompatible CFW on the new RG40XX H/V models might cause damage your screen. If you see unexpected stripes on your screen after flashing KNULLI, turn the device off immediately.
After few reboots it changes to a complete blackscreen after it wakes up from sleep mode (full reboot works though)
This is a separate issue to what is on knulli, and is only caused by sleep mode. The current workaround is to disable sleep mode, by setting sleep shutdown to instant shut down.
The previous releases were made before anbernic released the silent revision so they were not able to include a fix for the new screens. The latest release has the fix for the screen, which is why it works.
Had this issue today and it nearly caused permanent damage to my screen. 1/10th of the screen was darker than the rest, but it seemed to resolve after some time, luckily.
The sleep function should be temporarily disabled for those models until fixed or at the very least a more visible warning.
I got lucky and the problem solved itself in the end, but I could of easily ruined my screen if I didn’t turn off the power quickly.
Same behavior on a brand new RG40xxH that I received last week : grey screen with vertical stripes when waking up from Sleep mode.
I’ve turned OFF sleep mode and I’ve activated the “Shutdown immediately” option to avoid any screen damage.
