[BUG] [CANADA] Setting timezone during installation resets time without telling the user

Hi,

Just installed Canada Goose and found something weird going on - muOS booted and my time was set to 2025/01/01 00:00. But I could clearly remember setting everything correctly. So what happened?

I decided to investigate, so I formatted my microSD once more and tried again.

Time gets correctly set but… setting the timezone resets it to 2025/01/01 00:00 without telling the user. And since setting the timezone is the LAST step when going down, 99% of the users will do it as the last step, erasing what they’ve just done moments earlier (setting the time) with no prompt to show what happened. This means that most users will boot with a 2025/01/01 00:00 date. Which is a minor annoyance for most, but a major annoyance for me. That means install folders would all get set to 2025/01/01 00:00 complicating future backups and/or restores as I couldn’t easily determined when the install was done.

Placing the timezone option first would mitigate this issue greatly, while showing the user a message saying that the time was reset would fix it completely (also: why setting the timezone resets the time? That’s not how it works on Linux, usually).

Thank you for your attention and great job as always with muOS.

Generally changing the timezone does in fact change the current date and time. More modern systems may have the capability of storing the current date and time and adjusting accordingly however we are not that.

Change the timezone, change the date.
