Hello again! I have a copy of a Pokémon ROM hack called Pokémon Crystal Clear. I have existing save data for it, but I’m having trouble getting it to boot. This specific hack is designed to automatically load the save file as soon as the device ‘powers on.’
However, the game completely freezes for me at the initial splash screen where it displays the game title and other information. I am using the Gambatte core, and while other games load perfectly fine, this specific one with my save data attached will not load at all. I suspect this is an issue specifically with muOS or RetroArch rather than the game itself, as the ROM boots fine without the save. I believe there might be an issue with how this modern version is attempting to ‘boot it up’ alongside the existing data.
Best Wishes,
Bin~
Edit: Sorry Forgot to post the image again
I have tested this ROM hack and it works fine on muOS, so I can verify the issue does not lie with retroarch or muOS.
Given that your patched ROM works fine on other platforms, this would lead me to believe the patching process has been successful (but you can verify this by checking the hash)
I suspect the issue is with your save file - it may have been corrupted and therefore is failing to load, or it may be in the wrong format (eg .srm, .sav). Additionally, you may not have also copied the .rtc file depending on which emulator you used previously and their specific save format. Some emulators integrate this data into the main save file, while others expect a separate .rtc file.
I would first delete all save states and save files relating to this ROM and test if it successfully boots - if it does, then the issue lies with your save file.
Retroarch provides log files, which may also be useful in determining what is causing this issue for you
