Confusion on hot swapping SD2 save files between devices

Conditions:

RG35XXSP and RG40XXV both running the same Muos Canada Goose. Trying to set up SD2 to continue playing on another device where we left off on previous device.

It seems retroarch isn’t playing nice or just isn’t as intuitive in this situation but hitting “save current configuration” does not save the configurations. Older builds of muos and retroarch have different interfaces and directories so older reddit solutions aren’t helping. ChatGPT also does not know what to do in this situation, the conversation always ends up at going into the config file and having to manually write things which many will not do including myself.

So i repeat the question. How can we setup retroarch to read and save files to SD2 to hotswap between devices.

you have to enable retroarch config freedom in the muos advanced settings to save config changes. but you shouldn’t even need to do that, just set both devices to look for saves on sd2 and it will work just fine, you can change this under the storage configuration settings of muos
