GBA Consistent Crash - RG35XXSP - Pixie

Hello all!

I wanted to ask for some support on an emulation issue I have. With my RG35XX SP, To summarize:

  • I am running Pokemon Emerald Rogue on PIXIE with the GBSP retroarch core.
  • When I enter a specific battle, the game will crash. This had happened at other points in the past, but now it is consistent with this battle.
  • This happened in BANANA before i tried updating to PIXIE without resolving the issue.
  • When I run the game in mGBA on my computer, it does not crash at this point, though I cannot say if it is crash proof.
  • I am running the most updated version of Emerald Rogue 2.0.1a.
  • I have tried using a newly downloaded .bios file for gba, to no avail.

If you all have any suggestion or insights on how to approach (shader settings, bios use, utilizing different cores, etc.) it would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information form me, please let me know. Thank you!

In the emerald rogue discord server, it specifically states that only mGBA is the supported emulator. Please do not try to run romhacks on unsupported emulators, otherwise you will run into weird behaviour and crashes, as you have experienced.

This issue is not due to muOS or any setting or configuration that has been set up by muOS, this is because you are attempting to use an unsupported emulator for that specific romhack. You may get lucky with some romhacks if they run using gPSP, but this one specifically states this is not the case.

Use the mGBA retroarch core on your device instead. In pixie, the default has changed to mGBA for GBA games, so restore core associations in task toolkit or change the core to mGBA for GBA games to fix your crash.
