How to run DOS games?

Hello Team,

Can you please advise how to run DOS games? I have simcity2000 which when I run, I get DOSBOX Pure Start Menu, from which when I run install.exe, the game starts.

But when I run other games, I get a DOSBox Pure Command Prompt and I am unable to type in any commands using the handheld.

Please advise if anything additional needs to be installed or configured as a frontend inorder to run DOS games. Also please advise if DOS games playable with the handheld itself or better to connect a keyboard inorder to play them.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. But I believe this requires a keyboard to be connected which can be done so via the USB C port on the bottom of the device.

You are incorrect. You can bring up an onscreen keyboard by clicking the left stick, which can be assumedly remapped in Retroarch to a different binding.

@rohmygod If your zip file only contains one exe you’ll need to launch it though the command line.

First type dir and press enter to see a list of the files in the directory. Then type the name of the installer and press enter.

You can use tab to autocomplete the name of the file after you type the first few letters.

I think adding DOSBOX.BAT to the zip can simplify things too. See:

With that in place it should launch the game automatically.

Note that dosbox.bat will need to be configured for each game.

Thank you so much @razorbeamz , you are a genius. Pressed left stick, got the keyboard and as you advised, started the exe file to run the game.

Adding one thing I just noticed - After pressing left stick which opens up the keyboard, pressing L1 brings up the DOSbox pure menu showing the game’s ‘.exe’ directly from where we can press start button to start the game.

This eliminates the need to type ‘dir’ and then type the ‘.exe’ in the prompt to run the game.
