Introducing the Community Forum

As part of our ongoing efforts to make community interactions more accessible, organised, and long-lasting (ooh yeah!), we’re excited to introduce the muOS Community Forum!. Discord has been fantastic for real-time chats, quick banter, and some amazing shitposting… but it’s not always the best place for finding useful info, sharing detailed guides, or submitting content that others might want to revisit weeks or months later. That’s where the new forum comes in.

You can check it out here

https://community.muos.dev - Please be mindful that this is totally optional and there is no requirement to create a Community Forum account straight away. If you’re reading this then you’re already here!

“But why not keep using Discord forums?”

Look, great question! We considered that, but Discord forums are limited. Threads can’t be moved. They’re locked behind server permissions. They’re hard to discover via search engines, and they lack features like dynamic tagging, bookmarking, rich embeds, and long-term visibility outside of Discord. By using a proper platform, we get a dedicated space that works for everyone. Not just Discord regulars. It gives our awesome community efforts a longer shelf life.

“Forums are dogshit”

We know “forums” can sound a bit dusty (FoRuMs ArE sO 1990s), but this one is modern and actually pretty slick:

  • Fast, clean, and mobile-friendly.
  • Sign in with Discord or GitHub so no new accounts needed.
    • Though use 2FA where you can!
  • Proper structured threads, tags, and search that actually work.
  • Thought out replies instead of trying to quickly respond to people.
  • Posts and submissions stay visible and aren’t buried in chat.
  • Way more accessible for people not active on Discord.
We are not replacing Discord. We are just adding a better home for bigger stuff.

So what is changing?

We’re gradually transitioning some of our channels and categories such as theme submissions, help requests, and idea threads over to the muOS Community Forum. Like I stated above the ultimate goal is to keep things better organised, easier to search, and more accessible over time. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to view and chat about existing content here on Discord, but going forward, we ask that new posts in these areas be made on the forum instead.

What about us contributors?

If you’re a contributor and want to post images (like your amazing theme), your forum account just needs to reach “Basic” status. This happens automatically by browsing a few threads, liking posts, and joining in. It takes no time at all and helps keep spam out while encouraging real participation. If you need help, just ask staff or annoy ping @xonglebongle.

What about us brain dead slobs?

You’ll be given cushy jobs…

The muOS crew are truly grateful

Thanks for being part of this wild ride and for helping us shape muOS into something truly special. Whether you’re hanging out with us in real-time or just checking in when you can, your presence and support genuinely make a difference. We’re a passionate bunch, and while we (mainly me) sometimes get a bit fiery in the moment, it’s only because we care so much about what we’re building. We’re doing our best to bring you something amazing, for free, as quickly as we can, and every bit of feedback, curiosity, and patience helps us get there.

Hey, you’re still reading this?

Hey awesome! Look at you go. We’re still working tirelessly to fix issues as fast as we possibly can. There have been great improvements for TrimUI devices lately, but keep in mind. We’re doing what we can in our spare time, and your patience means the world to us. However if you have specialised skills in low-level hardware or software skills, we’re always on the lookout. Come help out, if you dare!

Oh yeah, by the way there is a secret in Pixie that only a few have found…
