Issue Update from 2601.0 Jacaranda to 2601.1 Funky Jacaranda with Update Archive (2)

A few days ago, I posted a question about a problem installing the update. First of all, thank you for your reply and for taking the time to help.

Following your instructions, I installed the 2601.1 update, but the same issue occurs where it does not proceed past the boot logo screen.

I also tried installing it using two different SD cards that I know work properly, formatted in both exFAT and FAT32, but the same problem still occurs.

The asterisk (*) itself is not actually a very important issue. I asked because the version is not displayed as 2601.1, and from a regular user’s perspective it’s hard to know whether the update was installed correctly or if there might be a problem with the full image or the update file.

I’m also attaching logs, although I’m not sure if this is the correct one. If you need any other logs or files, please let me know and I will upload them as well.

I’m afraid to say it but it seems like it may be on your end. We have had people successfully both flash the full image as well as install the 2601.1 update to 2601.0 with no issues.

If this were a much bigger problem we would have heard far more reports about it by now as it has been almost two weeks since the 2601.1 release.

It also went through many weeks of testing without any installation issues. So this is very odd that it is happening to you I’m sorry!

I also suffer from the same condition

That’s understandable. It could indeed be an issue on my end. However, from a regular user’s perspective, it’s not always easy to clearly know what exactly counts as a ā€œproperā€ setup.

For reference, I tested with 32GB and 64GB SD cards that both passed H2testw, and I also checked their speeds using CrystalDiskMark. Using Rufus, I tried the following:

  • Installing the 2601.0 full image, then installing the 2601.1 update archive

  • Installing the 2601.1 full image, then installing the 2601.1 update archive

In both cases, however, the same issue still occurs where the system does not get past the boot logo. Just to be thorough, I also verified the hash values of the files, and those appeared to be correct as well.

At this point, I think I’ve tried most of the things I can reasonably test on my side. If the problem is indeed related to my environment, I suppose I’ll just stay on the previous version for the time being.

In any case, I really appreciate all the hard work from the developers. Thanks to your efforts, I’ve been having a great time enjoying retro games.

Installing the 2601.1 full image is enough to be on the latest release. The version number being shown as 2601.0* is merely a visual bug and you are in fact actually on the latest release.

It seems like this method is working for you, as you are able to boot and install the update archive (via the archive manager which only shows following a successful boot). It is likely that installing the update archive once the system is already on the latest update that may be breaking your set up.

Please also perform all tests without sd2 inserted, as there is a common bug where sd2 has not been formatted correctly (hidden partitions which many formatting software miss). If you then have a functioning system after narrowing down the variables and want to use sd2, please copy everything off it, format using the SD formatter tool (this tool successfully formats all hidden partitions, to obtain a single exfat partition), and then copy back your stuff onto sd2.

Other issues that may result in the boot logo hand, that are caused by sd2 include outdated themes or retroarch configurations if you are upgrading from a much older version of muOS, so it is recommended to delete those directories if that is the case.

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be able to use muOS soon.

Thank you for your reply.

All of my tests were done without using an SD2 card. If the 2601.0* version display is only a visual bug and does not affect anything else, then that is reassuring.

I will look forward to the next improved version that will be released soon. Thank you again.
