Here you go @everyone… This might look like a small point release, but under the hood it has one of the biggest changes we have ever made. A ton of things have been moved internally to give everyone a cleaner, more stable base for the future!

So what does it all mean?

  • A new modular archival system makes backups and restores far more reliable
  • Updates will be smoother and less fragile going forward
  • Installs take less than a minute
  • Old cruft has been cleaned out to reduce breakage
  • Most users will need to start fresh or restore from backups
  • RetroAchievements logins are preserved automatically
  • Power users can still enable the RetroArch Freedom toggle in Advanced Settings
  • PPSSPP updated to 1.19.3 with improved UI scaling
  • Fixed most first-boot issues and the dreaded speaker “pop”

Final Message

This release isn’t about flashy new features (though there are plenty) it is more about laying a new foundation. From here on in, things should be easier, safer, and more maintainable for everyone.

Oh and one last note… the supporter screen will never be skippable. It exists to credit the people who have put in their time, energy, money, and effort to keep this community project alive. Without them, there simply wouldn’t be MustardOS. I hate sounding like a broken record but a lot of you still need to know that this is free and built in spare time. Wild that people complain about that, but here we are, giving you another massive update anyway.
