Howdy ya’ll,
my 35xxsp arrived yesterday, booted fine with the stock OS but I wanted to try Mu since my friend who convinced me to get the SP raved about it. I followed the instructions on the site for the boot SD card, all that came up was the M logo, no prompt to select time zone or anything. I let it sit for 15 minutes before restarting and let it sit for another 15. After some troubleshooting I saw some people say to get SD card formatter software as windows has issues with it, so I did that, reformatted the drive, re-flashed the drive and the same issue happened. The device came with a 2nd drive with ROMS on it, so in case something was wrong with the first drive (which booted on stock OS just fine) I tried formatting and flashing onto this drive too. I’ve been using slot #1 as instructed for the boot drives. Before formatting the ROMS drive, I tried booting without it in the device and still the same issue, just stuck on the Yellow M. I also saw some replies on the troubleshooting posts about making sure it’s charged. It is at 100%, the orange light turned off so I know it’s charged.
Any help would be gladly appreciated. I’m heading to bed and tomorrow will try a different OS just to make sure my device isn’t faulty. However it booted fine with the stock OS so I doubt that is the case.
Hi @xonglebongle , I’ve reached out on discord earlier today about 35xxsp hanging right after starting the 2502.0 installer. After several attempts to reflash using difference software and using difference sdcards, I tried installing 2410.3 and to my surprise it installed without issues! That suggests there was a breaking change in 2502.0, right?
@Borg3127 I signed up just to reply to this. I ran into the same issue on a new 35xxsp and was able to get past it by hitting the reset button after sitting at the logo for about 10 minutes.
After also getting stuck on the M boot logo for around 10 minutes, XongleBongle was kind enough to give me detailed instructions which were:
Take out mSD card, press reset.
Reformat the mSD card with SD Card Formatter
Reflash, insert card, press reset.
Following these steps precisely (NOT pressing the power button at all in between the steps) I was able to get past the logo and through the setup, right now it’s finishing the installation process with no more issues so far. Hope this will be helpful!
Had exactly the same issue, tried all recommended flashers on both Windows and Mac with no success. Tried both Sandisk and Samsung cards but surprisingly the sd card came with the machine worked at the end.
Steps:
Boot official firmware, let it do whatever it needs to do with the initial setup.
From menu, turn the device off completely. Not through power button.
Chuck in MuOS card to slot 1 and the official firmware card to slot 2, this step is somehow important because i tried it 3 times all pointing to having the 2nd card in there seem to get pass the logo and proceed further with the installation.
Registered to say the three steps including not hitting the power button worked for me. I had to hit the reset button once after 5-10mins after the steps and then it just worked. Thank you
Hi!
I had the same issue after flashing MuOS 2502 on a 64GB Sandisk using Raspberry Pi Imager. After being stuck on the yellow MuOS logo for 15 minutes I simply hit the reset button which resulted in MuOS setup starting properly.
Figured it would be easier to join and ask here then make a new post.
What exactly is “Won’t get past MuOS logo?”
If I refresh flash and install, it works for a few days, maybe even a couple of weeks. At some point, it will hang on the boot logo. Nothing seems to break that cycle except for a new flash. Once I do that, it repeats the loop.
For what it’s worth, after installing, I will have plenty of battery life so this does not seem to be a case of trying to boot with a dead battery.
This also worked for me. I tried with a sandisk extreme and patriot EP for 2502.0 and both did not get passed the boot screen. 2410.3 works on the garbage sd cards that emulators came with and it also worked with my sandisk and patriot cards.
It sounds like you’ve tried using the two sd cards that came in the device, is this correct? If so, throw them out and get a new one/new ones, the stock SD cards that come in handhelds are garbage 99% of the time, it is inevitable that they fail and moreso a matter of if than when.
Any news on this? I have 4xx V, but issue is the same. Tried 3 SD cards (64GB Samsung, 32 GB Verbatim and some no-name 8GB). Only the no-name worked (on 2nd reflash), but it’s very old and slow, not much usable on the device for a good gaming. The other ones we reflashed more than 10 times (Pi imager, Rufus, win32 disk imager…). Tried all the advices here, non of them worked.
Strange is, if I use the older version (Pixie), it works flawlessly on all of the SD cards. Also Knulli and OnionOS (on my Miyoo) works without any issues on these cards…
