I have a suggestion for the developers. Could you make it so that the pause (milliseconds) between holding down a button and the scrolling to take place, is a fixed time? Like always 350ms. Currently it seems the menu acceleration value ALSO affects that initial pause and shortens it. So much so that at low values a single tap almost immediately wants to trigger the scroll to the next item- making it seem like a single tap scrolls two items at once.
Isn’t this exactly what acceleration should affect? The time delay at the start is due to the scrolling accelerating. That’s the setting you are changing
Not exactly. In my mind acceleration value should affect ONLY the speed at which the list scrolls when you hold the button. (Up, down, etc). And nothing else
I’m suggesting that there should be a Fixed time of about 350ms between the time you press/hold the button, and the time at which the system effectively decides to perform a constant scroll. (At whatever speed is set on the menu acceleration value).
I think you are conflating speed and acceleration.
The delay at the start is due to the menu ‘accelerating’, with higher acceleration, it reaches the top speed faster.
The setting is working entirely as it should. Having a set delay of 350ms would not be appropriate, as that is just your personal preference.
It seems what you actually want is higher scroll speed (but lower acceleration).
You can scroll menus much faster by using the L and R buttons.
I’m pretty sure that there is no acceleration whatsoever involved. The number in the setting appears to be just the milliseconds between one list slot movement and the next. Including the very first movement and the second…
I added a separate setting for Menu Repeat Delay that will be set to 208ms by default. It will be in the next patch. No timeline on when that will be right now.
