Pixie boots slower than previous versions

Hello!

Pixie is great, but unfortunately, I’m getting a 20 second boot time vs the 10 second boot time I got with previous versions. I’m using Patch 2.

Games boot quickly, shutdown is quick… everything is as expected and snappy, except booting the system up from being off. It was like this with Patch 1 as well, and I think the Pixie I installed came with Patch 1.

Maybe this is just how it is and not an issue for me specifically…? I’ve thought about installing Banana instead, but I don’t want to miss out on new stuff.

Hey there! The short answer is that more stuff is happening at boot to ensure a smooth user experience.

The long answer has been given by @xonglebongle here, if you’d like to read into a few of the things that happen on boot:

Hope this helps!

Thank you!! I’ll read it! I’m definitely not looking for NES style boot times :stuck_out_tongue: but one reason I loved muOS was how quickly it booted compared to others. I’m also not into “x is better than y due to a few seconds,” more just like… muOS was one of the snappiest I’d used. Fantastic for pulling it out of the pocket and playing for a short time.

And it is a great OS still, probably the best I’ve used.

Thanks again!
