[Pixie] Epic Noir / Epic White

Epic Noir for muOS is a port of the Epic Noir theme, originally by c64-dev & Chicuelo. All images are fully recreated to fit muOS and it contains a nice suitable home screen.

Epic White is a brand new version of Epic Noir with brighter colours exclusively available for muOS. (No support for CubeXX)

Is the link on the MuOS site updated to refer to the version best suited for Pixie? Currently reinstalling all of my data because I only have a one-card setup, so would be nice to know.

Epic Noir looks updated for Pixie. You can check it out at MustardOS Themes or download .muxupd file from Github release page.

Yes, the current version on the muOS theme site is the same as on GitHub (V1.3).

Does anybody have an epic white system file for Atari Jaguar? Also I made an Atari Jaguar file for epic noir 640x480 and 720x720 if anyone wants.

I am struggling to make a new theme in the pixi update. Even a simple: I download a them. Change the .muxthm to .zip so I can open it. Then without changing or opening it I change it back to .muxthm . I put it back onto the SD card. It no longer shows, It’s not there in themes or in the archives. What am I doing wrong?

Someone on the discord pointed out this problem and I wanted to share it here as well. I am on a mac and macs will hide the type of file something is. When I was changing the zip to a muxthm it would still keep the .zip but hide it.

To fix this:

  • right click and select Get info
  • Change the file name and uncheck the Hide extension box under the file name.

Love this theme! Please tell me we’ll get an Epic White artwork for Rom Hacks?

hope you make java pls

Sure, I’ll see if I can add both requests this weekend.

@Mntz Would it be possible to create white images for the Atari 5200 and Atari 7800 as well? That would be great, and I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Both Atari 5200 and Atari 7800 have been added for White now. Enjoy.

Thank for your hard Work, you doing great :+1:

Great work with this!
I want to modify the main screen so it has 3 Larger main icons top, and 5 smaller icons at the bottom (MuOS supports this). Is there any chance you can share the photoshop file with me so I can have a go at it?

For Systems-View:

When I either install it with Archive Manager (Epic Noir System Images Install Pack) or put it manually into the folder on windows the picture is sadly wrong. I get a weird cut-out which is missing the top and right 20 % of the picture. It seems like the PNGs would be like 780x580 instead of 680x480. I used the 680x480 definetly, even when doing it manually on windows.

Any known bug? How can I fix it? It looks sadly quite stupid …

For example for the cut off:

Gameboy Color → Color

Nintendo Entertainment System → System

My go-to theme for sure. Any chance on uploading, or providing source files/fonts for the system art? My collection is missing a few:

Atari Jaguar
Neo Geo CD

Appreciate the work put into this! It really makes the device look premium.

You will have to play around with the theme settings a bit so that it stays centred on the screen and shows you all the text. I can’t remember if the option was something like “image centred on full screen” or something like that. Try out the options it gives you until you see that the backgrounds are nicely centred.

Wow thanks. Here it is the solution:

I am in Settings → Anpassungen (German for Customization) → Then I got stuff like Inhaltsbilder (Content pictures) → FULL+FRONT (otherwise the original text is displayed on top)

Can add them. Which color and size are you using?
