RetroArch Keeps Resetting To Default Settings When Device Is Powered Off

Having an issue where RetroArch resets to default configuration whenever I power cycle my RG35XXSP (A Red 2nd Wave Model). I made a backup save of my RetroArch configuration, and I try to go into the RetroArch settings to load that backup configuration, but it keeps loading the “wiped” default RetroArch configuration whenever I load a game.

  1. How can I keep this from happening?

  2. If I can’t keep it from happening, how the heck can I get my backup config file loaded and make it stick, preferably without having to load my MicroSD card on a computer?

This is VERY frustrating.

You cannot save a configuration as a new file. Our system is strictly told to use the retroarch.cfg file particularly with the default settings. You will need to save over the top of the existing RetroArch configuration and use the built-in tools to backup and restore them.

  1. Use the RetroArch Configurations module that you can find within the Customisation menu. By doing this you can backup and restore whenever you like.

  2. Use the Backup feature which will create a compatible archive that you can install either manually (through extraction) or via the Archive Manager in the Applications menu.

  3. You can also look into utilising the RetroArch Freedom toggle found in Advanced Settings to release some of the more esoteric settings available to you.

Ensure that you look into using some or all of the above options. It might seem frustrating at first but we do this to stop accidental changes to the core infrastructure.
