Single press of Menu button to open Retroarch menu

I have bound my hotkey enabler to L2 instead of the Menu (M) button (just personal preference). This leaves my Menu button unassigned and it would be perfect if pressing it would simply open the Retroarch menu. I have scoured the RA settings and can’t find any way to do this. I’m aware of the options to open the menu via Hotkey + button, and via the predefined list of “controller combos”. These are fine, but using a single press of the Menu button would be more optimal and would make for a more “console-like” experience as this is something that most modern controllers have. Appreciate your consideration of this idea!

You can already do this just set the menu toggle key to be the M button. That is how I have mine set up.

Open Retroarch from applications, then go to Settings → Input → Hotkeys and set the “Menu Toggle” key to M.

Then save the retroarch config

This will make it so pressing Menu by itself will open the RA menu.
