I have a question regarding playing Stardew Valley via postmaster. I read the info in postmaster as well as in the related pages which advises to switch the game to compatibility version, which will download an update. And then I can copy the necessary files to my sd card.
The latest version is 1.6.15, so I just had this question that if I switch to compatible version, will it downgrade the version? I want to play it in my handheld too but if switching to compatible version downgrades the game version then I am afraid I won’t be able to use my PC save on my handheld since they would be different versions.
Could someone please advise.
I read online in some forums about people running into version compatibility issues when using the PC save in handheld while the games running in PC and portmaster are different versions.
Just use compatibility mode to get the needed files and then after you copy them over swap it back, you only need it to set the files into compatibility mode for portmaster
So, my pc saves can be used in portmaster and vice versa? I see the version is 1.6.9 in portmaster and 1.6.15 in steam. And online info says new version can load older save but not the other way round. Can you please confirm?
To the best of my knowledge you cannot use the PC saves of the latest version inside compatibility mode. The best source of truth however is the Portmaster discord.
I didn’t get a response for my question there but I finally got a chance to try this and it worked. Downloading compatible version for 32bit systems in Steam did get me the latest version i.e. v1. 6.15 and was able to run the game in my handheld. Finally copied over the save and it works!!
