First of all we understand that video previews are popular and that many users enjoy them. However, we have deliberately chosen not to include video previews in our design, and we have no plans to add them in the future.
This decision is based on the MustardOS core design philosophy, to promote exploration and discovery of your games, ports, and other content. We believe that part of the joy in gaming comes from trying things out for yourself. Video previews can often reveal too much, spoiling moments, or are simply just really bad video recordings.
Instead, we encourage everyone to make decisions based on box art or even a single screenshot. Think of it like looking at a product on a shelf, or flipping through old vinyls at a second-hand shop. If something catches your eye, we believe the best way to know if you will enjoy it is simply to play it.
That sense of curiosity and personal discovery is central to our approach. Plus if you don’t like it, then you have a big decision on wether or not you should just keep it in the first place!
