Wifi not working on RG40XX H - Pixie patch 2

Wifi not working (stalled on trying to connect) after Pixie patch 2 on RG40XX H.
Tried on 7c4e6a8f after a fresh install.

7c4e6a8f reinstalled, WiFi working as before.

Regards.

Same issue but on a 35 SP
After patch the sp would connect to my network automatically but quickly lose connection. I’d scan for networks and it would display no networks.

Just to be a little more clear.

Device patched
Connect to Wi-Fi
Connection fails or no SSID shows?

I’d just like to be clear to test replication

Scan shows wifi networks and I can select it and enter the password.

After that, stalled at “trying to connect” message and device blocked till I push the reset button.

I’m seeing exactly the same behaviour on my RG40XXV. It doesn’t un-freeze even after leaving it for multiple minutes in the “Trying to Connect…” state. Never had any trouble with WiFi prior to Pixie patch 2, so feels like there’s a good chance it’s related.

@RetroBixo the “safe shutdown/restart” shortcuts seem to function in this state btw, probably better to use them instead of hitting the physical reset button (it can corrupt the filesystem).

Does anyone know of any logs I should check, or troubleshooting steps to try?

EDIT: I’ve since tried “restore network configuration” from Task Toolkit. After running that I was able to successfully connect to my network once. Subsequent attempts have all failed though. Sometimes it gets stuck on “Trying to Connect…” indefinitely, other times it gives up after ~20 seconds. Very weird!

EDIT 2: Rebooted my 40XXV, tried again, and it connected. So, all I can say with confidence is that WiFi worked reliably for me before the patch but hasn’t since. Not very helpful I know . If there are any logs that’d help pinpoint the problem, let me know.

…okay this is embarrassing. In my case at least, it seems my WiFi router decided (of its own accord) to switch to a very congested channel :smiling_face_with_tear:

When I manually forced it to use a less congested channel, my 40XXV started connecting reliably again. The Pixie patch 2 timing must’ve been a coincidence.

I guess there is still a muOS bug though: when the WiFi signal is flakey, it can get stuck in the “Trying to Connect…” state indefinitely (or at least for minutes on end - I gave up and rebooted it after several minutes). Maybe there’s a timeout not firing properly or something.

Sorry, premature of me to call it a bug . I think it’s just that the retry logic can run for much longer than I expected - upwards of 5 minutes by the looks of it.

It might be handy if pressing B cancelled the operation (unless I missed something, rebooting the device is the only way of cancelling the connection attempt at the moment). I might try contributing that at some point, but I’m not familiar with that type of code so it’s not something I can do easily unfortunately.

Thanks for the advice. After many attemtps I’m stayin at patch 1. My router is not in auto mode and the only difference is the patch. Any other device is working as usual.
