Box art not loading after adding to box art subfolder

I was following an older guide on how to set up MuOS and it mentioned adding box art manually as there isn’t a built in search function. I pulled all the box art with Skraper and added the folders to the box art subfolder, yet none of the box art shows up still. I am wondering if this is because each img file is in its own folder (although that isn’t a problem with ROMs) or if there is just a different way this has to be done.

Folder structure should be like this:

sdcard/MUOS/info/catalogue/(system name)/box/game.png

Important to note the folder will need to have it’s core assigned too. “Select” on a game, pick your core and hit “directory”

I’m having the same issue and I’m going around in circles trying to get it working. I’ve followed various guides, I obtained the box art with Skraper, added it to the file directories that everyone says to, with the file names the same as the games, but it does nothing. My portmaster games automatically have box art, it seems to work fine but I get nothing on any other games.

Do they have to be a particular file type? 'Retro Game Core’ added the .png files straight in the same as me but I’m getting nothing.

I apologise for my lack of technical knowledge in these kinds of things but I’ve no idea about anything @Kirky is saying. Which folder? How do I assign a core to a folder? How do I ‘hit Directory’ on a game?

Can anyone help please or is it just too vague a problem to know what the solution is?

go inside the folder that you want to assign a core to. with any game selected press select. Choose core and walk through the steps to pick the system and core. on the last step of selecting core be sure to hit X to assign the core to the directory and not just the selected game

Thank you for walking me through it. I really appreciate the effort. I’ll give it a go now.

Sup folks.

Having the same issue here with CANADA-GOOSE release.

  • Set the Core for the Famicom/ rom directory to fceumm_libretro.so for the entire directory (pressing X)
  • Names match on the ROMS/Famicom and info/catalogue/Famicom/box directories in my SD2 (below)
  • Made sure images are 300xProportion with mogrify
  • Tried different themes just to be sure, but none rendered boxart

Names matching:

$ ls /run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/MUOS/info/catalogue/Famicom/box/Zelda*‘

/run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/MUOS/info/catalogue/Famicom/box/Zelda II - The Adventure of Link (USA).png’

$ ls /run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/ROMS/Famicom/Zelda*‘

/run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/ROMS/Famicom/Zelda II - The Adventure of Link (USA).zip’

$ file /run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/MUOS/info/catalogue/Famicom/box/Zelda\ II\ -\ The\ Adventure\ of\ Link\ \(USA\).png

/run/media/nwildner/E2E1-632E/MUOS/info/catalogue/Famicom/box/Zelda II - The Adventure of Link (USA).png: PNG image data, 300 x 225, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced

Am I missing something?

don’t create folders in catalogue the folders auto generated in there are the ones you are supposed to use in your case

/MUOS/info/catalogue/Nintendo NES - Famicom/box/

if art isn’t showing after that make sure you assign a core to the directory. That is how it knows where to look for art.

Ack.

Using the automatically assigned directories that were created after assigning the core did the trick :slightly_smiling_face:

Cheers.

My issue is that the box art shows under Collection and History, but not in the Content section. All of my directories are assigned cores.

Found it right after posting. Thanks!
