Love the gradient templates

Version 8 will be Andromeda only now… Also it will support new things that are coming with Andromeda…

I downloaded the latest version, but when I open it on my RG40XXV, I get a black screen; when I press the buttons, it makes a sound as if the program is running, but there is simply no video output.

Hello. I just made an account and still figuring things out. I love the work that has been put on this project, and I have been able to scrape my libraries without much fuss!

Same with @rafaelfabres , my Scrappy app had been working fine ever since version 8 release until around 7 hours ago. It’s a complete white/black screen (depending on the theme) but you can still navigate around. I have noticed the same behavior before whenever I change the volume or brightness of my device (completely turning into a white/black screen).

I’m currently having this problem on my RG35XXSP with muOS 2601.0 Jacaranda

Update: I changed my contrast from 100 to 120 yesterday. I changed my contrast back from 120 to 100, and now the app works again. I double checked by putting it back to 120. Sure enough, completely black/white screen.

That’s exactly it, I had changed the contrast and saturation; I reverted to the default settings and the app worked… what a strange bug.

Thanks for reporting. Can you please provide screenshot of the issue.

Good evening. Just got the time to check things out. I’ll attach the images here.

Here, I adjusted my contrast to 120 in the Colour Options. Upon booting up Scrappy, it does not show the user interface, but you can still hear navigation sounds.

Then,

I reset my changes to the default, putting my contrast back to 100.

And I will also point out another bug: Adjusting either brightness or volume inside Scrappy (even from boot) produces the same bug.

(It’s my first time here, I hope my post is not too confusing.)

It seems like scrappy8 is not happy with the stage overlay function on jacaranda, and that may be a side effect of it being developed with the upcoming Andromeda release in mind, since it is not an issue at all in Andromeda test releases.

A simple fix would be to edit the /MUOS/application/Scrappy/mux_launch.sh launcher to comment out the stage overlay set, in line 66.

It should go from
SETUP_STAGE_OVERLAY
to
#SETUP_STAGE_OVERLAY

That should solve the issues for the time being, but overlays won’t work, so no volume/brightness bars, and no colour corrections, while using scrappy.

Thanks buddy :blue_heart:
I will keep it Andromeda only for now…

Update: I asked it to update the cache in settings, and now it’s managed to read the pc-98 folder xD

This is a very good app, incredible work!
I’m just having a small issue: for some reason, the app ignores my PC-98 games folder.
It only works when I scrape them manually, game by game.
No error message appears stating that it failed to find scrapes for the games; it simply ignores the folder when I run the scrape scan.

Having a similar error with Genesis/Megadrive, and Arcade games. It looks like it’s only scanning a handful as they flash by, then it fails ALMOST all of them. But it WILL scrape them individually.

Also, trying to scrape with TheGamesDB is giving me a server response status 429 error. Screenscraper and IGDB work fine. Individually at least.

Go to Settings and ask it to update the cache; I did that, and it recognized the folder.

Unfortunately, no luck. Here’s (hopefully) a video of what it’s doing.

It should have worked without that. Some of these bugs are related to the current release of muOS rather than the app itself. The app’s v8 is being developed and tested with compatibility for muOS Andromeda in mind.

Please wait for the official release of muOS Andromeda.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Want to start by saying Scrappy is fantastic and has worked wonderfully for the most part. I just had a few issues I was wondering if anyone could help with (probably something dumb I’ve missed). Running the current version of Muos, 2601.1.

First issue is with a few (seemingly) random games. I have a few NES and SNES games that the scraper doesn’t seem to set any art for (all other games in both folders scraped just fine). Whenever they scrape, it seems to be successful (no error messages etc) but never updates the games with art. The games are not obscure at all (Castlevania II + III, ghosts’n goblins, Donkey Kong Country 2 and similarly popular for NES and SNES). And all are correctly spelt and assigned cores via directory. Individually scraping the games doesn’t change anything either. Still scrapes without error but doesn’t get any art.

Second is with the refined search, I have a copy of Legend of Dragoon with a patch applied to bug fix and undub the game, as such I added “PATCHED [bugfix-undub]” to the games name, obviously the scraper can’t find this game but when using the refine search option removing the quoted part above doesn’t seem to achieve anything. It just sits on the “running skyscraper” screen until I manually exit. Then says the game could not be found if I try re-search.

I’ve only set my screenscraper.fr login as I don’t have accounts for the other two sites but screenscraper has worked for 95% of everything.

Thanks for any replies with suggestions and help!

Hey, Thanks for reporting. I have released v8.0.2. Install that and make sure u rescan folders from settings and advanced tools after installing it. If the bug still happens then please provide logs from muos/application/scrappy/.scrappy/logs folder.

Thanks! Updated to 8.0.2 and rescanned. The “scrape missing games” option didn’t correctly scrape the - ~15 NES+SNES games I was missing but going into the “scrape single roms” menu and individually selecting did scrape them correctly.

The refined search option still seems to be failing for me. Trying to “scrape single rom” my “The Legend of Dragoon PATCHED [Bugfix-UnDub].m3u” refined to" The Legend of Dragoon" still sits on the “scraping in progress” screen without finding any results until I press B and cancel. My unmodded plain “The Legend of Dragoon.m3u” scraped without any issue in my initial round, so I should probably just copy the box art and rename it. EDIT: I did that and it’s displaying correctly, as you’d expect.

Scraping my PORTS folder seems to force use TheGamesDB over screenscraper for me. And some games don’t scrape correctly. Going from “Starting scraping run on 1 files using 4 threads” - > "resource gathering run completed! " - > “platform PORTS completed” then getting stuck there. The games are catalogued on TheGamesDB site so they should Scrape (AM2R was a game that I can search on the site but gives the above error when scraping).

Oh, I also couldn’t get the “Update scrappy” option in advanced tools to do anything. Just copied latest version into the archive folder instead. Running 2601.0.

Thanks again for the quick update and fix!

Thanks for the feedback! Here is a quick breakdown and fix:

Refined Search:
Found and fixed a bug where the ROM filename was being passed twice during custom queries, causing the scraper to exit and hang on the loading screen. I couldn’t test it, so please let me know if this works.

PORTS using TheGamesDB:
This is intentional. ScreenScraper doesn’t have a PC/PortMaster database, so Scrappy automatically routes PORTS to TheGamesDB (or use IGDB) to find artwork.

Missing Games vs Single Scrape:
Single Scrape forces a full cache refresh and clears old partial metadata, which is why scraping them individually worked.

Updating:
IDK why it didn’t work for you. I just did ota and it worked fine.

Latest Test Build:

Thanks for all the fixes and help.

The refine search option is working as expected for my patched PS1 game now. Still can’t get it to scrape some common ports like AM2R: Another Metroid 2 remake and Apotris. Shows up on TheGamesDB but can’t get it to find it when scraping. Is it specifically scraping a Ports library, as the 2 Am2r results are for android and PC?

I thought it might be the case that gamesDB was chosen over Screenscraper for that reason, though it could be handy to have an override as many ports are just “normal” games e.g TMNT:Shredders Revenge.

No idea on OTA, could be my router, device, me being an idiot. I’ll try again with the next update and see if anything changes then let you know.

Hi everyone!

After OTA update from 8.0.0 to 8.0.2 there are missed scrappy icon in apps list.
Is that possible that default path to the icon was changed in new version?
Because scrappy.png is still placed in RG40XX-H\SD1\MUOS\theme\OneTwo\glyph\muxapp

All the rest icons from that folder are shown correctly.

I also tried to reinstall from a scratch both scrappy and theme without any changes.

upd.: found a solution - rename icon file to logo_scrappy.png and place it in
RG40XX-H\SD1\MUOS\application\Scrappy\glyph
